Review of the 2024 Sci-Fi Movie “Atlas”
Hey there, movie lovers! We are excited to have you here for our very first movie review—thank you for reading! Please note that Rock River Experiences won’t regularly submit movie reviews; we will continue to showcase all Rockbridge County has to offer!
We offer this review as a service announcement for anyone without Netflix, who might have missed a new movie we really enjoyed.
“Atlas” is a sci-fi action film directed by Brad Peyton, featuring Jennifer Lopez in the lead role as Atlas Shepherd. Without revealing anything you won’t see in the first few minutes, the plot centers on Atlas, who is tasked with tracking down a rogue android named Harlan, portrayed by Simu Liu. Jennifer Lopez brings charm and emotional depth to her role as a brilliant data analyst with a specialty in artificial intelligence. I also really enjoyed the performances by Sterling K. Brown and Mark Strong in supporting roles. Abraham Popoola also delivers a strong performance as the first android we meet in the movie.
Visually, “Atlas” features impressive CGI and action sequences, and the cinematography succeeds in creating a visually engaging world. The film’s musical score elevates the action and drama, complementing the visual elements and adding emotional depth to key scenes.
Without any “spoiler alerts,” we can still share that as the story unfolds, viewers embark on a high-stakes ride that explores themes of technology, trust, and, of course, action-packed survival. It checked all the boxes for us and made for an enjoyable experience with quite a few laughs intertwined with the action and suspense.
If you don’t have Netflix, consider getting a subscription, visiting a friend who does, or enjoying a stay at one of our five vacation rentals in beautiful Rockbridge County, where we offer your very own movie premiere of “Atlas.”
To enhance your movie-watching experience, treat yourself to a Delola Light Margarita over ice. This refreshing cocktail is part of Jennifer Lopez’s premium ready-to-drink beverage line. At only 125 calories per serving, it offers a lighter take on the classic margarita, combining 100% blue weber agave tequila, real fruit juice, and natural flavors and colors.
The Delola Light Margarita garnered significant acclaim since its launch in April 2023, earning a Platinum Medal at the LA Spirits Awards, a Double Gold Medal at the New York International Spirits Competition, and most recently, a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Ready To Drink Competition in 2024.
In a stroke of cosmic timing, JLo's Margarita earned a third accolade the same month 'Atlas' debuted, creating the perfect pairing for an epic movie night. Just add some snacks, dim the lights, and enjoy the sci-fi spectacular!
